Alpha 2006 (Aug 25, 2006)

Postby Karunt on Mon Aug 07, 2006 9:28 am

We plan on having a couple of tournaments for Alpha.  We are going to do the COD2 shotgun tournament again, not really going to change much on that one, just a different map and kill all other servers.  Also we would like to have another more formal tournament.  We just need ideas for it.  We would like to know what you guys want.  Just post what you think would work well, and we will see what we can do.

Some ideas to get the ball rolling:

Quake 4 2v2 TDM
COD2 2v2 TDM
Warsow 2v2 TDM   (http://www.warsow.net/)  Unfortunately there is no build for MACs yet.  You should give this game a shot.

just whatever you would like to see.
You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong.
You cannot help small men by tearing down big men.
You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich.
You cannot lift the wage earner by pulling down the wage payer.
You cannot keep out of trouble by spending more than your income.
You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatreds.
You cannot establish security on borrowed money.
You cannot build character and courage by taking away a man's initiative and independence.
You cannot help men permanently by doing for them what they could and should do for themselves.

heres a few ideas for interesting tourneys

Farcry, good solid game, never gets old. most likely DM or TDM

hl2 deathmatch, grav gun only maybe? (i think that would be a blast). i dont think its been done at kgb. and since it isnt played that often, it would decrease the chances of the usual group of kgb'ers who form the super team to win tourneys.

Set up a super smash melee tourney off to the side, all you would need is 1 tv, 1 GC, the game, and 4 controllers. everyone loves a good game of melee.

um yeah, what do ya think?
Cricket? Nobody understands cricket. You gotta know what a crumpet is to understand cricket.

Dood, reap and i would be thrilled if that happens, but it's good to hope and dream b/c that isn't very likely to happen since most ppl don't play or care to play q4.  Not many quakers in the kgb :(

And who would you be refering to? :)  Those foolios only step-up the game; also forces ppl to learn and play the game better.

My suggestion would be a variation of Q3RA (like 2v2, 3v3, or 4v4) - q3ra isn't very system demanding

We're all looking forward to the 1st lan - so catch you foolios there and bring your A-game!

thats what the projector is for.  That is already in the plans(now that I have found my memory card).  We are going to need wavebirds though.  I am planning on picking another one up at GameGuy here soon, if they have one.
