Box Party

Postby _Tuff_ on Wed Feb 06, 2008 1:09 am

You knew it was bound to happen. This Saturday (Feb 9) at 3pm we're going to have a good old fashioned Xbox party.

We'll have a few projectors and a couple 360s of our own. If you can bring your 360's, controllers, copies and Halo 3, and maybe even TVs, then that would be awesome. Please remember though, that we aren't responsible if something happens to your gear.

We'll probably break around dinner time to collectively raid a fast food joint in traditional box party fashion.

Tell everyone you know. No skillz required to have fun.

Man, that's short notice. Not sure how the wife would feel about my taking off for this so soon after the LAN.

Halo 3? Chance at playing the grifball thing I had posted before? Or some COD4?

Edit: Here's that grifball site.

We can play whatever. Sorry for the short notice, but this is kind of an informal, last minute sort of deal. Just some guys getting together, playing, and hanging out.

Got the wife's thumbs up. Got a box and 5 controllers. Maybe a second box and 3 more controllers depending on brother's work schedule. Room for a 50" plasma? Only TV I got, not sure what I can haul it in though.

You might think about posting the location in the original post... conference center I'm guessing?

Is there a way to get Grifball onto the boxes without a Live connection?

I'm pretty sure only the host of the game has to have the custom maps/gametype for custom games. Except everyone would have to have the foundry map downloaded. Can't share that. I'm sure most people who play H3 have it already anyways.

I'll make sure i get the gametype/map DL'd so I can host. I'm also pretty sure you can save them on your own box after you've played them once.

Seriously, room for the TV?

you are correct, as long as everyone has foundry, everyone will auto download the gametype.

Some of the best times in High School were spent @ Xbox parties.  Original Halo ftw!

What amazes me is that the cost of a used Halo 1 keeps rising. It's almost $20 bucks now last I saw. You could pick it up for $14 just a few months ago. Haven't looked on ebay but that's the prices in the used stores (cdTradepost and gamestop)

i thought it was a greatest hits $15 doller title, or you can get it digitally distributed on xbl under xbox originals for $15.  I'm not surprised though, its a good game.

Dunno, the price tag just caught my eye. I've got two copies myself so wasn't really looking. I knew you could DL it cheaper on XBL though.

Well I think this was tons of fun.  15ish people showed up and had a blast, do those who came agree?

We will be doing more of these, but with more notice.

Lots of fun. Thanks for throwing this together KGB.

Custom games were a lot of fun. Grifball was a blast once both teams caught the hang of it and it got competitive. Maybe next time we can get another box and have some larger teams. That would be intense. I'll have some highlights up to share soon.

Sucks we couldn't get any COD4 in. Darn them for not allowing split screen system link. How stupid is that?
